# Sodium chloride

Sodium chloride is a colourless, odourless and crystalline solid. Sodium chloride can be supplied as UV salt, PDV salt and salt tablets. It is used either directly or indirectly as a starting product for the preparation of almost all other sodium compounds.

### Industrial applications include:

- water treatment
- regeneration of ion exchangers
- component in drilling fluid
